Luis Tiant is one of the most charismatic and accomplished players in Boston Red Sox history—a cigar-chomping maestro who was the heart and soul of Boston’s teams in the 1970s.
The man whose name—“El Tiante”—became a Fenway Park battle cry has never fully shared his tale in his own words, until now.
In Son of Havana, Tiant puts his huge heart on his sleeve and describes his road from fields strewn with rocks and rubbish in Havana to the pristine lawns of Major League ballparks.
Our Red Sox Club was very involved in getting El Tiante into the second and final round of the Baseball Hall of Fame selection.
Dennis "Oil Can Boyd"
From 1983–85 Boyd won 31 games for Boston, with 15 victories in 1985. In the same season, he posted career-highs in games started (35), complete games (13), strikeouts (154) and innings pitched (272.1).
March is Gordon Edes: He will introduce "The Bat Man" ---
Come to see who the BAT MAN IS!!!!!!
Gordon Edes is an American sportswriter. He was appointed the team historian for the Boston Red Sox by the club's owners Fenway Sports Group in late 2015. Before that, he had covered the team for 18 years, first for the Boston Globe, and then for ESPN Boston.
Executive profiles – A company is only as strong as its executive leadership. This is a good place to show off who’s occupying the corner offices. Write a nice bio about each executive that includes what they do, how long they’ve been at it, and what got them to where they are.
Gordon is a good friend of the Red Sox Villages. He helped us in our efforts to get Luis Tiant into the Baseball Hall of Fame
